Britain and the EU: the challenges ahead
The European Union currently faces some formidable challenges. Vijay Rangarajan, Head of the Europe Directorate of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, will in his lecture outline some of these challenges and what the UK is contributing to responding to them. He will in this context also explain what the UK Government hopes to achieve through its efforts to renegotiate certain aspects of the UK’s EU membership terms and its EU reform agenda. This is being done before a national referendum on the issue of the UK’s EU membership is held, which the government has announced will happen by the end of 2017.
Moderator: Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of History and Philosophy, University of Iceland.
The seminar will take place in English and is open to all.
